The idea about this album came very spontaneously. I had booked a two day recording session with a great saxophone player, but somehow it was not happening, we didn't really fit musically. So after the first day he quit. Then we decided to use the second day and record in trio. We turned the lights off and pressed the rec button. And it was happening.
I had played with Kristijan before but Mattia I met for the first time, and there was immediately chemistry and musical rapport between all of us. Everybody brought some tunes and we improvised completely some others. It was hypnotising, magical. As if we had played together for years. All tracks are full takes, recorded in one breath on the 18th February 2015.
The album title is inspired by a music theme I wrote based on excerpts by the famous poem The waste land by T.S.Eliot. It was for a project some years ago with a dance company in Amsterdam. The mood of the poem resembled very well the music.
